Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have film. When you were younger, you may have thought that you had a photographic memory. You probably memorized your favorite food, the alphabet, and the entire periodic table of elements. However, if you didn't know how to read or write, you may not have access to your memory.
Instead it remains trapped inside your brain with no way to be shared. For those of us who do read or write, our memories are stored somewhere else. Instead of relying on our memory to be the sole means of storing information, we rely on our brain to hold on to memories.
We can't expect our memory to remember everything for us any more than we can expect film to instantly develop once we expose it.
